Pure gold! Riders revel in Avon Valley for 2025 Canola Classic

Nearly 500 riders signed up and most showed up to defy a wet forecast and revel in a mostly sunny morning on quiet roads in amongst the popping golden canola blooms of the Shire of York.

Riders of all levels from the curious on commuter bikes to the lycra-clad crews and characters keen to lash the courses of either 57km and 98km.

If the smiles are anything to go by, a great day on the bike was had by all!

“I had a great time!” said one beaming rider at the finish line. “The views are just incredible and even with a bit of rain and bit of wind it’s still a lovely day out. It’s beautiful – we stopped for lots of pictures!”

As WestCycle CEO Wayne Bradshaw said: “It’s the kind of ride that reminds you why you fell in love with bike riding.”
