Tonkin Gap Project – Broun Avenue and Embleton Avenue Works

The alliance responsible for the Tonkin Gap Project has advised they are modifying the Broun Avenue and Embleton Avenue intersection as part of the works for the Morley-Ellenbrook Line.

The upgrade will involve widening the intersection to accommodate a designated bus lane on Broun Avenue (eastbound), and extending several turning pockets to improve the functionality of the intersection.

To ensure the safety of pedestrian and cyclists, they recently re-opened the PSP under the Broun Avenue bridge for people travelling along Tonkin Highway.

However, there are still some path detours in the area (see below). The shared path on the western side of Addlestone Reserve between Addlestone Road and Broun Avenue will be closed until approximately mid-2023.

These changes were implemented on 23/01/23.

Tim has been involved in racing mountain bikes, BMX and triathlon for many years, both as a father of two children who race and as a past and current bike racer. Tim is the current over-50 State Champion in downhill mountain biking. He is also a very regular and enthusiastic transport cyclist; frequently seen in a suit and tie riding to meetings in the city on a mountain bike.

Helen is a Town of Cottesloe councillor and is the current Chair of WestCycle’s Transport Advisory Group.

A medical doctor, Helen is a strong active transport advocate with a focus on health outcomes and social well-being.
