Fuel prices up again? You’re not the only one rethinking how you get around. An ABC News story from Perth reports e-bike retailers seeing a sharp jump in demand, with one store going from a handful of e-bike sales a week to dozens in just over a week – as people look for a more affordable, reliable way to travel.
Bike shops tell us bike servicing is on the up as people drag dormant bikes out of the shed, and e-scooter usage continues to rise. Riding bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters are ideal for the everyday 2–10km journeys that account for the majority of trips and clog our roads has never been more compelling. E-bikes and scooters can flatten hills and extend range.
If you’ve been thinking about riding for a while, consider this your nudge: start with one regular trip – to work, the shops, or the school run – and build from there.
