Perth-based gravel specialist Cassia Boglio talks about her experiences riding the biggest events in the US recently.
Cassia Boglio is back home after spending a good part of our winter competing against the female gravel world’s best in the booming US gravel scene.
It was the Liv Cycling Australia rider’s second US trip for the year and she will next head to Europe for another round of gravel events later in the year and another stint in the US after that.
She’s been competing in events like the Sea Otter Classic in California (which she won) – and Steamboat Gravel in Colorado where Cassia came in a very respectable 13th against a seriously stacked field.
All experiences that have thoroughly examined her gravel game – and elevated it, as she tells us here in this 4-minute interview: https://tinyurl.com/2xymdfwz
“It’s very different to here – like most races in Australia there’s a small handful of girls that you’re racing against compared to over there.”
“Pretty much all of those races besides one that I’ve done this year, you’re still mixing with the men, which is a huge learning curve because it impacts the race a lot. So just learning where to be and how to play the race so it works in your favour.”
“Also nutrition wise, racing for seven hours is completely different to racing for four hours and you can’t afford to not fuel properly. That’s one thing I’ve learnt this year – how much you have to eat!”
While back in WA, Cassia will take on Boekeman Machinery | Case IH Bike it to Ballidu Gravel 2024 on 21 September.
