Event Details:

Backroads is the biggest community sporting event in the Midwest, bringing gravel bike racing to the forefront once again. Since its debut in 2022 with over 300 participants, it has become a highlight in the cycling calendar, drawing enthusiasts from far and wide.

Managed by a dedicated Local Organising Committee and supported by event professionals The Event Team, Backroads promises an exceptional experience. Cyclists will traverse courses offering unparalleled views of golden canola fields, towering wheat crops, and blooming wildflowers against the backdrop of rolling hills. These meticulously designed routes, crafted by local cyclists, utilize gravel road networks that wind through the picturesque landscapes of the Shire of Chapman Valley.

Beyond the exhilarating rides, Backroads transforms Nabawa into a bustling hub of activity. Participants returning to town will be greeted with open arms by the community, joining in post-race festivities, enjoying activities at the finish line, and celebrating award presentations.

With five diverse distance options catering to riders of all ages and abilities, Backroads includes the family-friendly 10km Gravel Groms for beginners and the challenging 100 Mile (160km) route for seasoned cyclists seeking a monumental challenge.

Not up for hoping on a bike then why not run with 2 distances to choose from.
