Ride 2 School Day WA success!

Schools across the State got behind bike riding and active travel in a big way with skills sessions, breakfasts, bike buses and more as part of Ride 2 School Day WA on 21 March.

Close to 60 schools entered WestCycle’s Active Schools competition with multiple schools reporting 60%+ of their students rolled or walked to school – quite a jump from the national average of 20-25%! Special shout out to Wembley Downs Primary School where 90% of students rode on the day!

We thank each school that reported their participation numbers and went into the draw for the WestCycle Bike Fun Day. We have a winner! Congratulations to East Victoria Park Primary School – the WestCycle team will deliver your Bike Fun Day plus free e-cargo weekly rentals from Sparque soon!

“We had a blast…”

In the Ride 2 School Day WA lead-up WestCycle delivered programs to Belmont City College students that included bike checks, repairs and maintenance workshops.

“We had a blast, they learned vital skills and the week was a huge success and promotion of bike riding,” said WestCycle Schools Manager Josh Curulli.

We thank all the children, schools and our partners who got involved in Ride 2 School Day WA this year. We’re already looking forward to Ride 2 School Day WA next year and continuing to make streets happier, healthier and safe for our future generations.

Ride 2 School Day WA is proudly supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Recreation (DLGSC).
