In just its second year the Boekemans Machinery | Case IH Bike It To Ballidu Gravel festival took out the SportWest Community Sport Event of the Year at the WA Sport Awards at Optus Stadium last night.
“The festival brought people together, showcased incredible talent, and created unforgettable memories,” SportWest said of the event that saw rider numbers jump 44% to 475 from 2023.
“This Award is fantastic recognition for a lot of hard work from many parties but especially the people of the Shire of Wongan-Ballidu who have given their special energy to an event that has transformed a Wheatbelt town with a population of 58,” said WestCycle CEO Wayne Bradshaw.
“It’s great for the gravel riding scene, great that we were the only winner on the night from the cycling world, and a great showcase for what these kinds of events can do for regional communities.”
This year’s Bike it to Ballidu Gravel festival takes place on 28 September.
