2023 Injury Prevention Summit – Injury is Everyone’s Business

WestCycle gathered with passionate individuals, experts, advocates and organisations to discuss key issues and share best practices and knowledge at the 2023 Injury Prevention Summit.

Recently WestCycle gathered with passionate individuals, experts, advocates and organisations from across western Australia to discuss key issues and share best practices and knowledge at the 2023 Injury Prevention Summit in Perth.

The key message of the day: Injury is Everyone’s Business

It was a day of lively discussions feeding off speakers including:

  • An incredibly inspiring (and quite entertaining) Acknowledgement of Country by Noongar man and owner of Go Cultural Aboriginal Tours, Walter McGuire.
  • WestCycle Board member and Director of Chronic Disease Prevention at the Department of Health Dr Denise Sullivan, who explored evidence-informed injury prevention.
  • Founder of Healthy Streets Lucy Saunders , Strategic Transport Planner at PJA Tim Judd and WALGA’s Manager of Road Safety Terri-Anne Pettet, who all discussed the latest developments in creating safe streets.

Jodie Nikolic from the Paraplegic Benefit Fund Australia (PBF) who in her presentation, ‘Why We Do What We Do: Through My Eyes’ talked about the life-changing results of road trauma and what can be done to make our roads and paths safer for all users.

Hear Jodie discuss her experience and learn more about road and riding safety at a free webinar WestCycle is hosting this Thursday at noon (18 May). More on that plus registration here: https://westcycle.org.au/wc-event/road-safety-week-webinar/
