Old bikes winning new lease of life in Canning Vale

✅
Volunteers at the Canning Vale Men’s Shed are busy breathing life into old bikes – with charities benefiting from their collective elbow grease.

“We’ve been at it for about 12 months now – doing them up and selling them,” said project leader Richard Randall of their work.

“So people gain good value bikes with proceeds going to charities we have been working with.”

Mr Randall said the bikes were donated by community members who no longer used them.

Charities to benefit include Fly 2 Health, which helps children in rural areas get specialist care and Hero Hunter, which supports families of children with cancer and blood disorders.

The Men’s Shed processes other equipment like lawn mowers, edgers and other garden equipment and has raised about $300,000 in recent years.

“These projects keep us busy and it’s great we can help so many – and we are always after more bikes!”
