FAQS

  • eRide Essential members have personal accident cover while using an eRideable device that is compliant with WA law.

    Definition of eRideable

eRideable means an electric rideable device, such as a scooter or skateboard, that:

    • has at least one wheel
    • is designed to be used by only one person
    • is no more than 125cm long, 70cm wide and 135cm high
    • is 25kg or less
    • has a speed limit of 25km/h on level ground.

There is no restriction on power output for eRideables as long as it complies with the speed, size and weight limits outlined above.

For further information, read the details at https://westcycle.org.au/erideables/  inconjunction with the Product and Disclosue Statement.

  • E-bikes are not classified as an eRideable. They are considered a type of bicycle, therefore are covered by Ride Secure membership.

  • At present, the laws covering eRideables are not consistent across Australia. Therefore people who live outside WA will not be covered under eRide Essential membership.

  • Yes. You will be covered while riding outside WA as long as you are complying with local laws and using a device that complies with WA laws.

  • Children aged under 16 are not legally permitted to use an eRideable. However, children who live in your home can be included in your Family membership while riding a non-motorised bike or scooter.

  • If you need to make a claim,  lodge a report through our website at  https://westcycle.org.au/submit-a-claim/  and then we will be in touch to progress the matter.

  • At present, public liability insurance is not available for eRideable users.

  • No. The insurance included in this membership is for personal accident cover for the individual member only.

Insurance for your device should be purchased separately.

We offer a discount on bike insurance through our partner organisations, and may be able to offer discounts for eRideable devices in the future, however this is not currently available.
