The Healthy Streets framework is all about making streets healthy places for everyone

"Does this street make you feel welcome?"
'Shade and shelter' is one of 10 Healthy Streets indicators...
It was all aboard a WestCycle-driven Healthy Streets Bike Bus recently as part of the Asia-Pacific Society for Physical Activity (ASPA) Conference that drew an international audience to Perth!
WestCycle Active Transport Manager Dr Georgia Scott ‘drove’ the Bus that saw physical activity researchers grappling with active transport issues while receiving a street-level introduction to the Healthy Streets framework that has so many great ideas about people-first urban design from safety to shade to shelter.
WestCycle Transport Advisory Group members were active, with Maurice Berger giving input, and Shannon Leigh sharing her experience of the Healthy Streets Design Check.
Another Transport Advisory Group member, Matthew ‘Tepi’ Maclaughlin, was influential on the organising committee of the 3-day ASPA conference itself where sessions brought physical activity and active transport research and practice together.
These included the Department of Transport sharing its work on how to improve the experience of using our active transport network.
