Update on Canning Highway and Stirling Highway Intersection, East Fremantle

Using the modified Canning Highway and Stirling Highway Intersection, East Fremantle

WestCycle have been advised that a changed layout is now in place at the intersection of Canning Highway and Stirling Highway to prioritise Stirling Highway traffic. These changes will remain in place until project completion.

New intersection changes:

  • Only Transperth buses can travel east and west on Canning Highway. Canning Highway is open on the approach to the intersection, but vehicles can only turn left and right to travel north or south. Alternative routes are available to and from Fremantle.
  • The right turn pocket from Canning Highway to Stirling Highway northbound has been extended.
  • The left turn pocket from Canning Highway to Stirling Highway northbound has two lanes and signals.
  • The right turn from Stirling Highway northbound to Canning Highway has been removed.
  • These changes have been widely advertised since May 2025 and are now operational.
