- $450,000 over 3 years to implement the Western Australia Mountain Bike Strategy
- Employment of newly created Mountain Bike Project Manager role
- Development of Steering Group
WestCycle said the State Government funding will support the continued growth of mountain biking in Western Australia.
“This is fantastic news for mountain biking in WA, it provides the funding required to commence the rollout of the initiatives identified within the State Mountain Bike Strategy that was launched in May,” WestCycle Chief Executive Officer Matt Fulton said.
“The benefits of this funding will reverberate across the state and help to grow participation in all demographics, ultimately increasing the trails on the ground for the mountain bike community and growing tourism.”
WestCycle have immediately commenced the recruitment of a full time Mountain Bike Project Manager who will drive the implementation of the strategy. A Steering Group will be formed to oversee the plan in the coming weeks, which will include representatives
from the Western Australia Mountain Bike Association (WAMBA), Department of Sport and Recreation, Department of Parks and Wildlife, Western Australia Local Government Association (WALGA).
As a bike riding community we are extremely grateful for the support that the Minister for Sport and Recreation, Mia Davies and the Department of Sport and Recreation consistently provide, not just to mountain biking, but all forms of bike riding and this is another example of the support and trust they put behind WestCycle.
