1 October 2020
WA Bike Month 2020 is set to see over 50 bike-related events run across the State from 1 – 31 October celebrating everything cycling.
The 2020 festivities builds on last year’s successful expansion of the well-established Bike Week to a month-long celebration of people riding bicycles for transport, fun and a healthier lifestyle. There is also a focus on supporting local business, to assist Western Australia’s COVID-19 recovery.
WestCycle CEO Matt Fulton said
“This year, many West Australians have rediscovered the joy of riding a bike. With a range of events on offer, WA Bike Month provides more reasons for people of all ages, interests and abilities to get back on a bike or give bike riding a go”
With significant recent investment in local bike and shared path infrastructure, WA Bike Month encourages more West Australians to explore their local area by bike, meet their local bike riding community and ride with co-workers or schoolmates in a friendly, supportive and fun environment. There are also some great prizes on offer, with the #ridetogetherWA weekly photo competition and a $1,000 local bike shop major prize on offer to encourage West Australians to experience and share WA’s natural beauty while riding a bike with friends or family.
This year, 46 local governments, organisations, community groups, schools and workplaces shared over $50,000 in grants to host events. A diverse range of metropolitan and regional events are on offer including family bike rides, bike skills and maintenance workshops, come and try events and the popular bike to work breakfasts, ensuring there is an event for all ages, interests and abilities.
