CYCLING AUSTRALIA ROAD NATIONALS : DAY 1 | INDIVIDUAL TIME TRIAL
It’s just Day One of Road Nationals and Western Australia is already showing the rest of the country what we’re made of!
We’ve claimed four podiums and multiple top-10 finishes, with Luke Durbridge taking out the Men’s Elite TT in 1st place against current World Champion time trialist Rohan Dennis Fantastic! WA also posted an absolute clean sweep in the Para division, with Hayden Long riding to 1st in C4, Andrew Bannister 2nd in T2, and Richard Williams 3rd in H4. How fantastic to see every single Para rider from WA podium!
Our U19 riders also rode incredibly strong, with 3 riders making it into the top 10. Matthew Connan took 5th, Jay Lindorff in 7th and James Derrick 9th. Josh Commons came in 18th, followed by Courtland Wood in 23rd and Riley Heslop in 30th.
In the U23, Tyler Lindorff continues to build his national results tally in 7th place, followed by a tight finish between Oli Stenning in 19th and Seb Barrett in 20th. Hayden Turnton rounded out the group nicely in a 30th position, with all the WA riders finishing in the top 30. Awesome stuff!
Last but not least in the Elite Men, Michael Freiberg rode to 9th, and Pat Saccani-Williams placed 22nd in a blisteringly fast race.
Congratulations to all the riders who pinned on a number and emptied the tank today. What a fantastic result as a State! We’ll continue to bring you updates on Road Nats for the rest of the week, and add photos when they become available.
