It’s only been a few weeks since the new Murray Valley trails opened up in Dwellingup. We’ve been receiving some fantastic feedback, Marg McIlroy recently hit the trails and from all accounts, they have lived up to expectations – she sent us through a few of her thoughts after a weekend of camping at Baden Powell and mountain bike riding. For those interested in trying them out, enter via the Lane Pool carpark. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Marg!
Hitting the Murray Valley trails for the first-time last week, we started from Baden Powel campground and rode along the Munda Bidi to the trial head. After looking at our options, we decided to take Captain Hook and Yarri Up to get us up to the top of the hill. Although I am not a fan of climbs or hills, the tight steep switchbacks were challenging but not as bad as I expected it to be. Then Later-rite sent us winding our way down the hill to Inzamia. We quickly found out why Inzamia had become so popular. It was just as the brochure said. We were grinning from start to finish and our legs and hearts were pumping all the way down the hill, berm after berm, dip after dip! It was fast steep and insane. Still Buzzing and still smiling, we headed back on the Munda Bidi to Baden Powel along the new single track that now replaces a section of boring fire road.
With the Munda Biddi, 5 green, 9 blue and 2 Black trails to choose from there are so many options to suit your skill and fitness levels.
Don’t be put off by the elevation, The Munda Biddi, Snotty Gobble, Year 1 and Quollity Street are great for those who prefer the easier green trails.
Even on a weekday there were plenty of riders out on the trail. The huge popularity of the Murray Valley Trails are a testament to the quality of the expertise of our WA Trail builders.
