WestCycle are excited to announce the continuing partnership with Subiaco-based Exercise Institute for the 2021 Dams Challenge!

The collaboration is intended to enhance every riders’ experience leading into the challenge. Exercise Institute have designed this year’s training guides for the 2,3 and 5 Dams (available to view HERE), and have collaborated extensively with WestCycle to produce the brand new Couch to Dams program, exclusive to WestCycle Members.

As part of the program, WestCycle Members that have signed up to the 2021 Challenge receive free access to three different interactive, comprehensive and fully-customisable online training programs run through TrainingPeaks. Riders are prescribed approximately 3 to 5 sessions per week to complete around their individual schedules, with full details and explanations provided. Riders can choose how to train with the option between Heart Rate, Power, or Perceived Exertion to help monitor their training progress as we draw closer to the big day.

The program also includes an exclusive online support group, invitations to Exercise Institute on-road training sessions, video content and special discounted pricing across Exercise Institute’s cycling performance service range, including Bike Fits, physiotherapy, strength training, ergometer sessions, and more.

Director of Exercise Institute, Brad Hall, said “The Dams Challenge is one of Australia’s most iconic cycling events.”

“I see the success of cycling only coming through collaboration. To this end, we are excited to partner with WestCycle for this event, and hope to accelerate the preparation experience of all the riders. Exercise Institute provides institute-level care to all athletes; be it in training, testing, bike fitting, physiotherapy, podiatry, and more, to ensure your riding journey is a comfortable and pleasant one.”

General Manager of Recreation, Glenn Te Raki, said “Exercise Institute have long been supporters of the Dams Challenge, and have a fantastic track record in improving performance of athletes across all levels and backgrounds.”

“To secure their partnership for another year is a fantastic outcome for the event and participants. Exercise Institute’s product and service offering and expertise are second-to-none, and we are looking forward to continuing to support their business that gives so much back to WA cycling.”
