DWELLINGUP TRAIL UPDATE
We are now past the first 6 months of the three-year plan to develop Dwellingup as a significant Trail Town, with plenty of development either completed or nearing completion. The Murray Valley trails at Lane Poole Reserve have seen an additional 10kms+ recently completed including two additional climbing trails (green and blue) with the blue trail forming part of the new Murray Valley Trails XCO course. This adds to the five kilometres of descending trails completed last year. Further to this, another 17kms of new trail to complete the Murray Valley network is currently out for tender with an expected completion date in October 2020. A 5.1km realignment of the Munda Biddi Trail onto new single track is also now complete meaning more single track for Munda Biddi riders and the Murray Valley network of trails. and. A suspension bridge over the Murray River to link the Dwaarlindjirraap picnic site and access to the river with the trails. The bridge is expected to be complete by early of 2021.
In addition to the trail development, the Dwellingup National Trails Centre is being built by the Shire of Murray and is on track to be open and ready for business in mid-2020. Parks and Wildlife and the Shire of Murray are working on an expression of interest (EOI) for operators for the Trail Centre and in Lane Poole Reserve to utilise this space and provide services for visitors. An EOI will be out soon. The Dwellingup National Trails Centre includes showers, lockers, laundry, bike wash and many other facilities that will make Dwellingup a great mountain biking and trails destination. There are also reports that the new pump track is getting a good workout and proving to be a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
