Last week, WestCycle was proud to partner with DLGSC, LotteryWest, Shire of Exmouth and The Cape Range Riders to deliver The Exmouth Bike Park Fun Day, to activate the new bike park in Exmouth.
Woodside and Mitsui E&P Australia and the Shire of Exmouth funded the development and planning of the park, which was designed and constructed by Common Ground Trails. Local mountain bike club, The Cape Range Riders, who have supported the development since its early stages, will now be able to facilitate the Exmouth Bike Park to run community-led programs in a safe environment.
The aim of the Exmouth Bike Park Fun Day was to activate community engagement with the park, promote The Cape Range Riders and encourage people to try mountain biking for the first time. The event had a huge turnout and it was fantastic to see so many children riding their bikes. There were two professional riders, Jordan and Charlie, demonstrating the exciting ways the pump track can be ridden. Local police officers, John and Jordan, were also down and put on a yummy sausage sizzle to make sure everyone was fed and ready to ride!
The event could not have gone ahead without the support from DLGSC, LotteryWest, The Shire of Exmouth and local police. Thank you for being a part of the day.
WestCycle advocates for ongoing development of recreational mountain bike trails, infrastructure and activities. The Cape Range Riders are working on the Cape Range Trail and a network of trails, which is supported by the Shire of Exmouth and DBCA. Common Ground Trails are working on the concept plan to put in legalised trails traversing from Exmouth to the coast. The trails will open up the tourism opportunities and bring in economic value to the Gascoyne region.
