Rounds 1 and 2
ON SATURDAY 29th Feb 2020, we kick off the 2020 WA Gravity Enduro Series in Margaret River taking refuge from the summer sun under towering trees, shralping beautifully sculptured berms and jumps and brushing off the cobwebs and opening the lungs from a summer-break.
ON SUNDAY 1st March 2020, we head to the Dunsborough and Districts Country Club and ride some fun (and pedally) trails to really dial things in for the year ahead. Although relatively flat, the Cape Mountain Bikers and supporters have done an amazing job squeezing in as many jumps and berms as possible, plus a little bit of gnarly action out back.
These rounds can be purchased separately or can be purchased as a ‘One-Two Race Weekend Entry’ package with a MASSIVE 25% discount applied in the Checkout!

Presented by See Subiaco The Ring will form part of the WestCycle Road Inter Club Criterium Points Series.
Criterium racing announced itself on the streets of Subiaco in 2019 with hitters including Cam Meyer, Michael Freiberg and Guy Kalma.
2020 promises to be just as exciting with the rising Subiaco street circuit attracting roaring fans, riders from A to D grade and the Dome Cafe Group Little Critters.
Subiaco presents us with all factors and attributes a premium circuit can offer. Starting on the corner of Rokeby Rd and Baker Rd the road inclines towards the right-hander into Bagot St then right again into the fast flowing Rowland St. There will be plenty of speed to wash off as you hit the right hand turn into Hay St then back into Rokeby Rd to start the incline past the start/finish line. A fast, technical circuit which will test all riders.

his is our favourite event to run every year!
We run it for many reasons:
We run it for our good friend Craig Baker and his family and the memory of their sister and daughter.
We run it to keep our promise to Henk Vogels and Southern Districts CC to keep the event going.
But most of all we run it to promote women’s participation in the sport of cycling and to give top billing to the women at one major race on the calendar.

How to Enter
Online registrations through MTBA. Link will be provided soon.
Please note: This year Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) is covering the insurance of all riders through their mass participation licence so riders DO NOT need to be MTBA members or pay for day licences.
To register online please have the following information ready to go: Name and DOB of each participant, contact details for the teacher or parent delegate (name, phone and email), school name and address and credit card payment.
Primary School Challenge:
The 2020 Primary School Challenge will be set similar to Perth MTB Club Sprocket races and follow MTBA rules with regards to timing. Depending on numbers we will race Year 3 & 4 and Year 5 & 6 in either one group or as two separate races.
Students will be given a small track (approx. 1-2 km) and will have approx. 25 minutes to complete as many laps as they can in that time. Places 1, 2 and 3 will be awarded an individual medal and all riders will receive a participation medal. Students will have practice time and Rock and Roll Mountain Biking coaches will be onsite to help. This is a fun race so teachers and parents will be encouraged to ride with students around the course.
**Suitable for all students that can confidently ride a bicycle. Please note that bikes need to meet safety standards, knobby tyre, front and rear brakes. Bikes can be made available at no extra cost from Rock and Roll Mountain Biking. Please book via email or phone (Jen 0410 949 182 / info@rockandrollmountainbiking.com.au)
Primary school students can race up a year group at the discretion of parents and schools (for example if a student already races). No students can race down a year level. The registration is not based on ages but on year level at school.
Senior School : RACE CONDITIONS
The race format is a cross country (XCO) team event. Each event will be a mass start event. Each rider completes the required number of laps, with the rider’s place determining the points he or she gains.
The team with the HIGHEST total number will be the winner. Second highest points will be second and so on.
A team, must have three (3) riders. You can enter all boys, all girls or mixed teams.
Each member within a team MUST be from the same school, and each team member must be in the correct year for that category.
The team rider must complete in the current year they are attending at school, there are no age categories, only school year categories.
Students from a lower year category may race in one of the higher school categories, but NO student will be allowed to race down a year category.
Students are able to race more than one race event during the day, as long as they meet the above conditions.
Three (3) year group categories will be catered for, each with male/female/mixed sub-categories. The group categories are as follows:
1. Junior High: Years 7 and 8.
2. Middle High: Years 9 and 10.
3. Senior High: Years 11 and 12.
Students from Year 6 will be allowed to race in a Junior High team, as long as they attend the same parent school.
Students from a school with insufficient numbers to form their own team, can enter an individual rider to race. They can race for an overall place, but as they will not meet the team conditions, the school will therefore not place in the team event.
The courses will be set to be interesting and challenging for a wide range of fitness and skill levels.
Race Laps and Times
To protect the junior riders MTBA has strict maximum riding time regulations in place. Each event must comply with MTBA rules, event organisers are required to meet these rules. This limit will be enforced, thus each event will have a cut off time. After this time the race will finish, any riders still on course will be given a finishing place and will have been deemed to have completed the race.
Junior High (Years 7 & 8): Approx course length 3-4km, approx race time 45-60 mins
Middle High (Years 9 & 10): Approx course length 3-4km, approx race time 50-65 mins
Senior High (Years 11 & 12): Approx course length 6-7km, approx race time 60-75 mins

“Get some York on ya Fork” hit the Enduro scene in 2018 with a bang, being a part of the MTBA National Gravity Enduro Series. Mt Brown offers a plenty of raw trails and an attractive main feature being a ‘quarry-gap’ which draws the crowd. The main trail head offers riders (and spectators) panoramic views of the York townsite and neighbouring farmlands which is always a spectacle. Riders can enjoy an easy road climb, short pushup and well connected firetracks leading to the top carpark.

Event Details
The Optimise You Cycle South is a 2-day ride that Starts in Perth on a Saturday morning, Stops in Pinjarra overnight with dinner, accomodation and entertainment provided, then finishes early Sunday afternoon in Bunbury at the Bicentennial square.. After all riders arrive in Bunbury, have had lunch, showers and time to wind down, riders are then transported back to Perth in a coach with their bikes following closely behind in a truck.
This is a challenging ride that requires prior training and a medium degree of fitness to complete. The Cycle South for Charity is also a fundraising ride, There is no minimum required amount to be raised by you but the event organisers ask for your best effort to raise as much as you can. 100% of fundraised moneys will be credited directly into the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Parks bank account and won’t be managed by third party organisations. There is a set early bird $220 rider starter fee payable upon signing up for the ride which ensures all expenses are covered for your participation. This fee is secure for the first 50 riders or up until April 15th. The full fee afterwards is $250 per rider. Your fundraising for the event is managed separately through our online fundraising platform. Hard Copy fundraising books are available at your request after signing up.
The event is two solid days of riding approximately 100km each day.
The Optimise You Cycle South starts at Optimise You Massage & Well-being at 493 Charles St, North Perth at 7am on Saturday May 2nd. Your camping gear and personal belongings bag will be loaded into our support vehicle trailer and transported to the Pinjarra Caravan park where you will be accommodated for the night after your first day in the saddle. The second days riding starts at 8 am after a buffet breakfast at the caravan park. We will ride through the backroads of Pinjarra and down the South Western HWY into Bunbury.
Each day includes a ride distance of 92km and 114km.
The Optimise You Cycle South is fully supported ride with a lead vehicle, snack and hydration station and a sweeping mobile pick up vehicle.
This ride provides the opportunity for West Australians do do their bit to directly help wildlife affected by the Eastern States bush fires at the start of 2020. I’ts also a great opportunity to socialise amongst other riders, make some friends, enjoy a nights camping with live band entertainment and set some personal fitness goals to ride the 205km distance.

Let us take you on an epic adventure from the red dirt of the Goldfields to the gardens of Perth’s iconic Mundaring Weir. Over five unforgettable days you will trace the golden pipeline which has been delivering fresh water to Kalgoorlie for over a century. More than just a mountain bike ride, the Pipeline Challenge proudly raises awareness and money for West Australian charity Youth Futures who have been supporting at-risk young people for three decades.
When
The Pipeline Challenge is held in May each year and is set for Saturday 2nd to Wednesday 6th May 2020. The event is held in Autumn to take advantage of the great mountain biking weather Western Australia offers at this time. A monthly average temperature of 20-22 degrees and 7 days of light rain across the region sounds like perfect mountain biking weather to us.
Where
Your epic ride begins in Kalgoorlie, located 594 km east of Perth. Made famous in the late 1800’s when prospectors Paddy Hannan, Tom Flanagan, and Dan O’Shea discovered gold, the rest is history. Who knows you could be riding over a small fortune as you make your way from Kalgoorlie to Mundaring in the Perth hills. We will camp overnight at Coolgardie, Southern Cross, Merredin and Northam.
Who
The beauty of the Pipeline Challenge is that it is suitable for everyone. Whether you’re a group of friends looking for a socially competitive race or a novice just in it for a challenge, we’ve got you covered. We’ve had children as young as nine join us on the Pipeline Challenge- they can ride as part of a team on the easier sections and enjoy the experience.
The course is not overly technical, however it is varied. There are sections that consist of rocky outcrops, rutted trails, corrugations, sand, and climbs/descents. Just because the course isn’t technical doesn’t mean you don’t have to train! Your experience will be much more enjoyable if you’ve put in the hard yards before setting off. We recommend your training regime includes riding on consecutive days to prepare your body for backing it up day after day on the Challenge.
We encourage most riders to form a team and participate in a relay-style which makes the longer days a lot more achievable. That said, we have a number of spaces available for soloists keen to push themselves. If this is you please read the information provided and contact us before registering.
Registration
Each participant will receive a free registration when they make the following donation to Youth Futures during the registration process.
Adult Team Rider: $485
Adult Solo Rider: $500
Adult Support Crew: $435
Under 18 Rider: $325
Accompanying Child (aged 9-17): $115
Accompanying Child (under 8): Free, jersey not included
This contribution covers all your meals, camping fees, insurance, jersey, car stickers, race plate (number), mechanical support, first aid and water stops (soloists only). Please note this amount will not be included in your fundraising total.

Event Details
The 2020 MTBA Fat Bike National Championships will be held on Cable Beach Broome, Friday the 15th of May, 2020 as a prologue race stage to The Gibb Challenge.
The Championship course will incorporate natural and improvised obstacles to create a unique race experience on the hard, flat, tidal sands of Broome’s iconic Cable Beach and the ancient songlines of the Yawuru. It’s the only beach cycling race event in Australia, and one of only two events of its kind anywhere in the World.
‘Fat Bikes’ are hybrid mountain bikes with wide, high volume, balloon tyres originally designed for the snow fields of the northern hemisphere. In Australia they’ve found favour amongst off road cycling enthusiasts for their unrivalled traction and agility on otherwise unrideable terrain including sandy trails and beaches.
The Championships are sanctioned by our sport’s peak national body, Mountain Bike Australia to recognise and award Australia’s National Champions in this unique cycling discipline. Categories for Men, Women and Youth will be contested across Elite, Expert, Masters (1/2), (3/4), (5/6), (7/8), Under 15 & Under 19.
Adults $20 Juniors $10 including Mountain Bike Australia Race Day Licence.

Western Australia’s longest climbs and most scenic trails combine to create an unforgettable cycling experience. A number of competitors in our inaugural year described SEVEN as the best event they had ever done and others described it as the most challenging.
The route finally selected for SEVEN was a result of nine months research and we believe that it is world class, but all the hype aside these are the places that we love to ride and explore.
For most people SEVEN is just a ride against themselves and for others it is a race against the ten hour cut off mark, but for others still will come with the hope of winning one of the toughest one day races in Australia, if not the toughest.
Our most asked question is in relation to what is the fastest/best type of bike, evidence to date suggests that there is no distinct advantage between hard tails, dual suspension or gravel specific bikes. They all seem to have an equal portion of the 125km to excel on.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in May or perhaps earlier on one of our orientation rides.
Regards all,
Brendon Morrison, Event Director.

Event Details
The 2020 Goldfields Cyclassic will continue as a two-day, two-stage handicap race across the Goldfields from Kalgoorlie-Boulder to Menzies and on to Leonora coinciding with the Leonora Golden Gift Foot Race. Riders will be racing across some of the richest and historic landscapes of the Western Australian Goldfields.
With the mineral wealth of this area being world renowned, it’s appropriate that this race also boasts being “Australia’s Richest Handicap Cycle Race” with a total prize pool of approximately $40,000 up for grabs. Being a handicap race, riders in all grades have an opportunity to win. Held over the WA Day long weekend, the two-stage event will be run as two individual race stages – the Shire of Menzies – Menzies Classic and the Minara Resources Leonora Golden Wheels. Each rider will be assigned a finish time as the time after the lead rider crosses the line and the time the rider crosses the line for each race. Prize money is allocated on merit so the spread of prizes is equal and fair, if you win Line Honours then you are not eligible to win a grade prize. The amount of money to be won is allocated accordingly so you will always win the highest amount.
The 2019 Goldfields Cyclassic was won by Theo Yates, in a combined time of 5 hours, 17 minutes. Womens Line Honours was won by Amanda Nabi in a time of 6 hours, 4 minutes.
For the weekend enthusiasts who would like to be included in this exciting and iconic event, the Community Fondo is a great way to explore the riches of the Goldfields and enjoy the achievement of completing the Menzies Classic with like minded colleagues or friends.

For 2020 the City of Armadale Grand Fondo returns with its 10th year and once again the original and first Grand Fondo here in Western Australia. With so many Grand Fondos around – we have decided to give the 2020 version a new name – the City of Armadale Ciclistica.
This event has grown from strength to strength with many cyclists making it one of their ride targets for the year with the 2020 edition being your half year target !
Distances
For 2020 we return to do the FOUR preferred distances now regarded as challenging and iconic:
Piccolo – 50 km – Our community ride through the plains of Armadale.
Medio – 70 km – This is a progressive distance taking you from the developmental 50km that has been our staple distance to a new target of 70km.
Medio- Gran – 95 km – As the name implies our Middle Distance ride which will have undulations and hill challenges.
Gran – 120 km – Our signature event which made the name Heritage Drive synonymous with Hill Climbing for cyclists.

Launched in 2009, the Dwellingup 100 has quickly become WA’s largest one day mountain bike race, attracting plenty of newcomers and novices plus some of Australia’s best riders. Once again we are excited to confirm that this event will be a part of the Western Australian Cross Country Marathon State Series (WA XCM State Series).
Riders and runners who take on the challenge get to experience the best single track and fire trail the region has to offer. Those riding in the name-sake 100km Classic travel a course carefully curated by a team of mountain biking legends and course directors.

Event Details
No other ride is more community-focused, heartfelt or inspirational than the MACA Cancer 200.
Entering its 9th year with a new name but the same commitment to ridding the world of cancer, the ride is life changing.
Over 1000 riders will line up to take on the personal challenge of riding 200km in two days to fight cancer and support medical research at the Perkins.
Unlike other rides, the MACA Cancer 200, is not a race. It’s an emotional, challenging, personal event where new people start as strangers and end as a family. All abilities and fitness levels are welcome.
Look out for the flagged bike riders. They are riding as cancer survivors or patients. We ride for them and with them.
Remember, we ride to do something bigger than we could achieve alone, to strengthen our minds and bodies and to provide hope to people living with cancer.
Fundraising Rewards
We will be putting together a number of fantastic rewards to recognise your fundraising efforts. Raise a minimum of $2,500 and you’ll earn your Cancer Crusader jersey. Raise more, and you’ll receive additional rewards. We will be building the complete list of fundraising tiers and the rewards you can earn really soon so stay tuned

Your Spring Classic Challenge.
In Australia there was a bicycle race that ran from 1897 to 1999. It was hard racing in the days of gravel tracks and thought to be the toughest race in Australia. It started in Beverley. We celebrate that race with a bike weekend. Be Heroic and come ride with us.
Slow down and step back in time. Historical towns, historical bikes and some beautiful countryside. We celebrate the history. We love those old bikes. We look forward to the new heroes making the event another historic ride.
All bikes welcome- e- bikes, bmx, steel, road racer, mountain bike, Cyclocross- something for everyone!
See where the wheatbelt and great races began. Enjoy quiet roads, riverside riding, checkpoints in historic towns- its beautiful Western Australia.

Event Details
Welcome to the home of Cape to Cape, Australia’s largest, longest running and most popular four day MTB stage race held from 22nd – 25th October 2020. Based in Margaret River Western Australia, this iconic riding experience includes access to stunning private trails, vineyard visits, brewery finishes and some of the warmest hospitality the region has to offer.
Starting at Cape Leeuwin lighthouse and finishing four days later at the fabulous Margaret River Distillery, the course makes its way through a network of trails along the coast, through National Parks, forest, farm lands, mountain bike parks, and bush before finishing back at Margaret River. Roughly 205km and 2,500m of climbing in total, each day’s riding is between 37km and 72km and has its own special terrain and environment to keep things interesting with a mix of fast flowing single trail, farm tracks, groomed downhill trails and fire trails – many through private land that can only be ridden while racing the Cape to Cape.
There’s nothing too technical and it’s ridable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness and MTB skills. Check out the course overview.
