WA ATHLETES WIN TOP PRIZES AT CYCLIST OF THE YEAR AWARDS

On behalf of the WA cycling community, WestCycle would like to extend a huge congratulations to Sam Hill, Sam Welsford and Richard Barville on winning their respective categories at the Australian Cyclist of the Year awards on Monday night.

Sam Hill won the Elite Men’s MTB category after another fantastic year which saw him become the very first man in the history of the sport to claim three back-to-back Enduro World Series titles.

Sam Welsford took out the Elite Men’s Track award – the perfect way to finish a successful weekend at the World Cup in Brisbane, where he won two gold medals in the Team Pursuit and in the Madison with teammate and fellow WA track cycling legend Cameron Meyer.

Richard Barville won Men’s Masters Road category, a fantastic accomplishment following his second place at the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Poland this year.

WestCycle would also like to acknowledge Steele Bishop for his nomination in the Men’s Masters Track category. Steele claimed an incredible four world titles on the track in October, and would have also been a deserving winner of this award.
