GOLD MEDAL HAUL FOR MEYER & WELSFORD

Congratulations to Cameron Meyer, Sam Welsford and Matthew Richardson on an incredibly successful round of the Track World Cup over the weekend at the Anna Meares Velodrome in Brisbane!

On Friday, Sam rode in the Men’s Team Pursuit, with the Team qualifying fastest with a time of 3:50.017 – more than a second faster than second-fastest qualifier New Zealand. They then backed up this dominant performance again in the final, taking home gold with an excellent time of 3:49.776.

On the same day, Matt Richardson rode as the starter for Team Australia in the Team Sprint, qualifying third fastest overall. Unfortunately the team didn’t make it through to the medal ride off after the first round but their qualifying time was more than half a second faster than last week’s round of the World Cup in Cambridge, New Zealand. An awesome improvement and a world class time!

On Saturday, Cam rode in the Omnium, taking out 5th place overall after a dominant display in the Elimination and Points Races, where he came second overall in each round.

On Sunday, Cam and Sam teamed up for the Madison, bringing home the gold medal for Australia after a very tough weekend of racing! The boys were incredibly consistent across the race, picking up points in many of the early sprints and taking a lap with 30 laps to go. The pair ended up 16 points ahead of the next closest competitors, New Zealand.

Congratulations to each of the riders on their extraordinary efforts over the weekend!
