ADDITIONAL WORKS ANNOUNCED ON THE MITCHELL FREEWAY PSP

With the construction of the missing link in the Mitchell Freeway Principal Shared Path taking shape and the new Scarborough Beach Road bridge settling into its new home,  some more good news has been announced that will see additional works on the Mitchell Freeway PSP.

Ever since the new PSP and freeway widening projects were first announced, WestCycle has been asking Main Roads WA and the Department of Transport to include the resurfacing of the older and damaged parts of the shared path between Leederville and Stirling. Today they have agreed and these additional works will see the existing PSP from Vincent Street to Telford Crescent resurfaced, widened and new lighting installed.

Heres the list of the additional works:

1. North of Hutton Street (near Telford Crescent) to Hutton Street
-Existing path resurfaced and additional PSP lighting

2. Glendalough Train Station to Goody Close
-Extending the new separated pedestrian and cycle path connecting to the new Scarborough Beach Road PSP bridge
-Additional PSP lighting

3. Goody Close to Bonnievale Street
-Existing path resurfaced and widened up to 3.6 metres
-Fencing replaced in some sections to improve safety and visual amenity
-Overgrown trees trimmed around lights, with globes replaced or cleaned

4. Bonnievale Street to Britannia Road
-Existing section resurfaced and widened up to 3.6m
-Overgrown trees trimmed around lights, with globes replaced or cleaned

5. Britannia Road to Richmond Street
-Existing 2.6m path resurfaced and widened up to an extra metre
-Fencing replaced to improve safety and visual amenity.
-Overgrown trees trimmed around lights, with globes replaced or cleaned

6. Richmond Street to Stamford Street
-Existing path resurfaced and widening to 3.6m
-Additional street lighting

To facilitate these works, additional detours will be required. Scheduled to be completed by March 2020, the additional resurfacing works in combination with the brand new $19m missing link between Glendalough Station and Hutton St will be a welcome addition to the PSP network. A great outcome – thanks to Main Roads WA, the Department of Transport and everyone else that helped to get this across the line. We can’t wait for March 2020!
