Westcycle Invites Proposals for Development of WA Mountain Bike Strategy

Westcycle is inviting proposals from suitable consultants for the development of a Mountain Bike Strategy for Western Australia.

Mountain bike riding is a rapidly growing recreational, sport and tourist activity that offers a number of potential benefits to Western Australia. It is also an activity that remains relatively under developed. This has resulted in an under supply of sanctioned mountain bike riding experiences in close proximity to Perth, the South West and in regional communities across the State.

To ensure that Western Australia takes full advantage of the opportunities being presented, while at the same time addressing existing challenges, Westcycle in partnership with the WA Mountain Bike Association (WAMBA), Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) and the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) are seeking to develop a Mountain Bike Strategy for WA.

Grant funding has been provided by DSR to Westcycle for the development of this Strategy.

The purpose of the Strategy is to provide a framework for the coordinated development, management and marketing of mountain bike opportunities in WA moving forward.

A steering committee comprising of representatives from Westcycle, WAMBA, DSR and DEC will provide support and guidance to the consultant throughout the course of the consultancy.

To obtain a copy of the project brief please email Westcycle. Submission procedures and selection criteria are outlined in the project brief.

Applications responding to this invitation must be submitted by close of business Friday 8th June, 2012.
