WA Set to Host 2 Rounds of the National MTB Series

The Perth Mountain Bike Club and Pemberton Mountain Bike Park have secured two Cross Country (XCO) National Mountain Bike Rounds for WA over the next two years.

Lock away the Australia Day long weekend for 2015 and 2016 and book some accommodation in Pemberton because that is where Australia's best cross country riders will be competing for Category 2 UCI points as well as national pride and a place on the national team.

The event is not just restricted to Australia's best as there will be racing for every age group right through to Under 13's. The excitement is already building and some of our local riders have already identified these races as major goals and something to work towards for the national MTB series.

Mark Hudson from Pemberton is ecstatic, saying that it is something he and trail builder Paul Neve have been working towards since the MTB parks inception.

Race director Tony Tucknott said that Shane Coppin from Mountain Bike Australia was fantastic to deal with. "He listened to our concerns, but more importantly he listened to our ideas, acted on them and made it happen."

"MTBA have been working really hard for their riders. They want to give the riders better events, better value for money and a genuine national series. They are listening to the riders to give the riders what they want and we are really pleased to be part of this new found enthusiasm and professionalism", Tony added.
